Review of The Stunt Man (1980) by Kevin H — 15 Jun 2008
Disjointed, imbalanced, and chaotically wavering between utter lunacy and occasional straightforward attempts at comedy or drama, the film's continual creative imbalance makes its initially promising premise an impossibility.
The overlong running time and hilariously out of place music only serve to underscore the hectically muddled directorial vision, and only the joyfully manic performance of Peter O'Toole and the quirkily heartwarming support of Barbara Hershey save the film from all around frantic banality.
