It's a fun and enjoyable movie that has its own unique style compared to the video games without straying too far from its source material. Most of the voice cast is surprisingly solid. Illumination's art style mixes well with the art style of the Mario universe.

They also set up a lot of details that could hint towards a potential sequel to further expand this new universe, or they could simply just be minor details for longtime fans to find, either way, they placed them well.
