Review of The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023) by Kuehnau — 16 Jul 2023

First part of the movie is okay, although I don't know why they're doubling down on Luigi being a coward.

Writing feels like they forgot what they were doing later on. First half shows Mario being a very capable parkour athlete and then later on when he needs to progress an obstacle course and then shows him beefing it nonstop. I thought Bowser was this big huge threat, but whatever, let's just waste time.

It feels like they focused on video game elements instead of story telling with this film, so as long as you like watching a movie emulate mario kart you'll be very happy.
