Review of The Sword of Doom (1966) by Frank H — 03 Nov 2010
I'm going to have to put this film up for one of the worst endings ever. (It was apparently supposed to have later installments to finish out the storylines, but, come on, it couldn't even have completed the final fight?!) Interesting what they were doing with Nakadai's character at the end of the film, almost turning it into a samurai/horror-genre blend.
Still, not one of the best samurai films I've seen, but Mifune was badass in the one scene he really gets to work with... a scene oddly reminiscent of a better film of his, "Samurai Assassin.
".
