Review of The Theory of Everything (2014) by David L — 19 Mar 2018
Stephen Hawking has recently passed away so the time has come to honour his memory by reviewing this biopic, Words cannot describe how much I loved this movie. It warms and breaks my heart, sometimes even simultaneously.
Stephen and Jane were determined to never stop no matter what the doctors said. Eddie Redmayne's performance as Hawking is criminally underrated. At times, you're concerned that he is actually Hawking's younger self.
He captures what Hawking must've felt like when he was diagnosed with motor neruron disease without looking offensive or feeling like a parody. On the romantic side of things, the film succeeded without feeling sappy.
Redmayne and Felicity Jones have a decent amount of chemistry and you can tell that Jane helped Stephen carry on even if it was affecting her life. And to top it all off, it ends with Hawking giving an inspiring speech about life.
"Look what we made" indeed. Rest in peace, Stephen Hawking. We'll miss you.
