Review of The Thing from Another World (1951) by Baurushan J — 25 Mar 2012
Let's talk about The Thing no not The Thing from Fantastic Four, I mean the horror movie from 1951 which was loosely based on it's book and I mean loosely because they couldn't afford special effects for the alien creature so The Thing was played as an green humanoid alien by James Arness whose cellular structure is closer to lifeform although it must feed on blood to survive and also the title of the film was called The Thing From Another World.
Anyway the story takes place in a distant Arctic research station where a UFO has crashed so the investigating scientists discover that the circular craft has melted its way into the ice, which has frozen up again.
The scientists soon discover a lifeform remaining frozen in a block of ice. The body is taken to base headquarters and thawed out by an electric blanket but the body turns out to be an alien as it attacks the scientists and escapes the snowy wastes.
And the rest is predictable from there. If you are a fan of the John Carpenter movie The Thing (1982) I guess you should watch this as well because this was the original and then John Carpenter remade this movie in 1982 so this movie is really worth checking out.
The Thing From Another World gets a 8.5/10.
