Review of The Third Man (1949) by David W — 26 Jul 2009
What a dissapointing film, the tilted camera angles, annoying screaming Austrians and horrible bordering-on-atonal music that was overly loud almost turned me off in the first half hour but I kept watching for the prospect of Orson Welles who came in and delivered the single one good scene in the movie (in the big wheel when we first meet Harry Lime properly, great charisma between the 2 actors).
Bar that the movie was terrible and I would never reccomend this to any budding film noir fan... also the femme fatale was ugly and could have passed for a tranny in different circumstances with her horrible deep east european accent.
Bar Orson Welles in 1 good scene, the only other good parts of this piece of shit was the Nosferatu-esque entrance of the baloon salesman at the end and some beautiful shots of Vienna at night (when the camera wasn't pointlessly tilted 45 degrees.
. seriously, what was the point).
