Review of The Truman Show (1998) by Michael H — 23 Aug 2012
Its a masterpiece all itself, a epic film where a dome with 5000 camera's watch one man's life day by day 24 hours 7 days a week. His name is Truman Brubank and he is the star of The Truman Show, the same name as this film. It all starts when a stage light falls from the skies of a island. It doesn't bother Truman and life goes on, but a few days later things start happening that bothers him and thinks there is a new world out there. The director, Cristof doesn't want Truman to leave and so don't the rest of the people in his world. With everyone watching, including people at a bar, a man in a tub, two security guards, a woman and two old ladies, will he be able to get out? Carrey, in his world of comedy picks out a dramatic role. He is outstanding and so is Ed Harris. 3 Dimensional characters are everywhere in the our two worlds, the earth and the dome. A fitting original score and thought out scenes help the movie get off the ground into higher territory. A fantastical adventure.
98/100 A.
