Review of The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009) by Mark J — 07 Jan 2016
Not near as fun as Twilight but amps the action up, but this is the beginning of what is of course the infamous love triangle. In both films (which I am rewatching as I read the books) the humor and exciting aspects are just left out.
Robert Pattinson is not convincing as Edward and Kristin Stewart (who I think is a pretty good actress at times) is given absolutely nothing to do. In the scene (tiny spoiler) where Bella jumps off the cliff she is supposed to be screaming for joy and falling into a hurricane basically, but that scene was so boring and uninspired.
The zombie depression and movie nights which are really fun and humorous are almost left out. To me that is what makes these films fall flat, they are just not fun. But I feel what makes it so entertaining is the fantasy element, the vampires and werewolves, the thirst, the hunt, all of the things that these films do best.
Leave the romance to the books though because it is awful here. But an entertaining film that remains true to the novel though very dull in every sense.
