Review of The Untouchables (1987) by Michael D — 22 Aug 2017
Gripping, suspenseful and well-acted, "The Untouchables" is one of the greatest gangster movies ever made. Brian De Palma's crime classic offers an insightful look at crime during the Prohibition era.
It features fantastic performances from an all-star cast. Kevin Costner delivers one of the finest performances of his career as a lawful cop. Sean Connery is marvellous and steals nearly every scene as a corrupt cop.
Then there is Robert De Niro, who is almost unrecognizable in the role of Al Capone. With his menacing expressions and larger than life presence, De Niro is absolutely unforgettable. Although the ending is over-the-top and unrealistic, "The Untouchables" is a must-see for fans of the genre.
If you are a fan of the gangster genre, lets just say that you won't be disappointed by this film.
