Review of The Way Way Back (2013) by Adam B — 14 Jun 2014
A good film about an introvert who is stuck with his mom, her boyfriend, and her boyfriend's daughter. The boyfriend is extremely condescending towards the main character and is the antagonist in the film.
This film is a coming of age of the main character, Duncan and the plot is very likeable. Eventually, Duncan(main character) finds happiness working at a waterpark where he grows in confidence. Duncan also meets a girl who is in a very similar situation.
Overall the film feels disconnected and rushed in the film. The uphill development to the climax doesn't build strongly enough and seems lopsided. The plot had potential to be very compelling and heartwarming but lacked in development.
Movie just seemed way too fast and rushed. Also the production of the movie was mediocre and lacked in quality. In conclusion, the story had potential, just a matter of execution.
