Review of The Wind and the Lion (1975) by Glenn L — 28 Oct 2011
Sean Connery and Brian Keith are both larger than life in their performances, and though they never meet onscreen, their characters make a great dynamic. John Milius is a nut, of the best kind, dishing out satire that's somehow equally sincere. This movie is like a bizarre mix of Lawrence of Arabia (with a far lesser budget but impressive results) and Dr. Strangelove. It's an absurdist romp in many ways, but also an old-fashioned, heartfelt action adventure.
It's also Jerry Goldsmith arguably at his very best.
