Review of The Wrong Trousers (1993) by Ammar S — 20 Apr 2012
The second in the Wallace and Gromit shorts is arguably the best of them all. On first sight, the film's villian, Feathers McGraw, may not seem like much of a villian. But he turns out to be one of the greatest film villians of all time.
He's sinister, cunning, and a right royal son of a bitch. The film also has some truly emotional scenes, including Gromit's departure from 62 West Wallaby after Feathers essentially replaces him, but the real highlight is its inclusion of one of the greatest scenes in cinematic history: the train chase.
Brilliantly scripted and with excellent music from Julian Nott (an orchestrated version of the music from the construction music in Grand Day Out) the film manages to create that sense of thrill that films like the Indiana Jones and Star Wars sagas do.
A masterpiece. 10/10.
