Review of tick, tick... BOOM! (2021) by Chromate — 27 Nov 2021
Overall, this was a decent film. I did feel a bit disengaged-- but that's most likely due to the fact that I'm not an avid musical fan. I also wasn't a fan of the opening scene, when the song was being interrupted repeatedly by a bit of backstory and banter between characters.
The overall feel of this scene was messy, and the narration throughout the film kept bugging me. On a brighter note: the performances and emotion coming from actors, especially Alexanda Shipp, Robin de Jésus, and Andrew Garfield were capturing, and I did really feel my heart break for Jon after his Superbia workshop.
The songs have been stuck in my head for the past week, and "30/90" has been playing on repeat.
