Review of Till (2022) by Mauro_Lanari — 14 Apr 2023
(Mauro Lanari).
It may be written integration but it is pronounced conformism. It recounts the lynching of 14-year-old Emmett Till but not the death of the specificity of African-American culture. In Chicago, blacks already have luxury clothes, jewels, gold **** lacquered nails. I would have a script to propose: on how Obama first voted in favor and then continued the work for the construction of the Mexican wall. Stylistically, too, the film is mediocre: glossy, pompous, anonymous direction, exhibitionistic acting, a product of the Hollywood industry. Alan Parker and Spike Lee knew how to do the right thing, Nigerian Chinonye Chukwu didn't. Acclaimed by critics and audiences (A+ on CinemaScore), flop at the box office. That's okay.
