This is a true action blockbuster that is so rare these days. The big messy CGI set pieces that are all too common today have desensitised and bored audiences to what real action can be. Audiences are screaming for action that is shot practically and real, visceral, and heart pumping.
Top Gun: Maverick exceeds the first one in every way. This is how you make a perfect sequel - reinvigorating the franchise whilst injecting just enough nostalgia and cheesiness to pay homage to the original.
Credit to Tom Cruise for making the film happen, and dedicating himself to performing these stunts practically.
