Review of Top Gun: Maverick (2022) by Branflakes5000 — 20 Jul 2022
Yeah not bad, not great. Its okay. They kept ALL the really woke terrible stuff in the deep background. female and black pilots etc are all background characters so not in your face. and they focused on the nostalgia which was nice.
However they skipped the obvious stuff that is now forbidden politically. so NO SEX APPEAL. thats gone. No masculine competitive drive. THATS GONE! - its reinterpreted as psychopathic douchebag. The new ICE man is just a psycho where as the old one was just a cocky young guy in his prime.
Its set up in the Liberal Cinematic Universe/Utopia of equality and diversity but it avoids looking at those things to instead focus on the old dying white society in the form of the old dinosaur white guy.
Its like a funeral/homage for white exceptionalism and white male heroism which is why the critiques will trash it and why the left wing psychos will hate it as usual. But because Tom Cruise is so universally loved/feared in Hollywood, he gets away with this sort of outdated realism.
