Review of Touching the Void (2003) by John S — 22 Oct 2012
A splendid docu-drama with 2 climbers recalling a treacherous climb with all energy and an inch-by-inch detail across the world's most imposing mountain.
Dehydration, lack of sustenance & frost-bitten fingers were easy, but while one dangles ~80 feet in the air in an icy crevasse the other faces an impossible moral position that changes the game. 'Touching the Void' provides a taste of despair that sets in when death appears inevitable.
Immense courage and bloody-minded determination! A must watch for for every trekker, who has, at least once, faced a moment of fear.
