Review of Towelhead (2008) by Mano K — 15 Feb 2012
I was fairly impressed with this movie. If anything I think too many themes were explored and on surface levels only. This movie touched on: racism, stereotypes, bullying, puberty, love, parent/child relationships (especially as portrayed by the Middle Eastern father), suburban neighborhoods/nosey neighbors, reaching for the American Dream, sexuality and probably others that I'm missing.
Many scenes were hard to watch, but I don't think anything was overly unrealistic. The actors were all really great, especially the actress who played Jasira.
