Review of Train to Busan (2016) by Joey B — 21 Apr 2017
There are two categories of films that I really just don't tend to watch: apocalyptic or zombie films. '28 Days Later' is the only film that captured my interest and scared the crap out of me.
I found it intelligently executed and felt like that was probably the last film of that genre that I would either ever see or think was that good. 'Train to Busan' blew me away with all the damn 'heart' it just contained.
Instead of focusing on action and violence, the writing drew me in to care about what was going to happen next because the relationships that are touched on are the focus. I simply loved this film because all the elements work: the sets, the casting, the jump points, and the quiet moments.
Even the use of the extras: do they have safety rules in this country of origin for using extras? Those pile-up scenes looked damn real!
