Review of Transformers: The Last Knight (2017) by Joe S — 15 Apr 2018
It still can't compare to the original, but The Last Knight is a surprisingly entertaining movie that matches Dark of the Moon, even if it can't surpass it. The acting is much better than the previous film, and most of the dialogue is good enough.
Sir Anthony Hopkins' performance isn't his best, but it is one of the best in the film, and he makes a welcome, albeit semi-brief, addition to the franchise. The film as a whole is mostly more of the same, but the action is done in a mostly fresh way, and Michael Bay shows a surprising amount of restraint when it comes to the number of explosions, American flags, and product placement *cough cough Age of Extinction cough cough*.
All in all, this movie exceeded my admittedly low expectations, even if that's not saying much.
