Review of Triage (2009) by Darryl K — 30 Mar 2011
A good performance by Farrell (and even better one by Lee) isn't enough to save Triage from the mistakes made in its story. While the first half follows a war photographer and his friend at a makeshift triage in the middle east, the second half is where the real story begins (finding out what happened to the photographer's friend, that has disappeared).
Unfortunately it is glaringly obvious what happened to his friend (almost stated outright), yet the second half is structured liked a mystery. The film would have been very powerful if they had started the story at the mid point, mixing in the first half as flashbacks, then actually developing a real mystery as to what happened.
As it is, its still entertaining (due to Lee's and Farrell's therapy sessions), but feels like it could have been so much more.
