Review of Trick 'r Treat (2007) by James H — 31 Oct 2011
"During the spookiest time of year there are a few rules and guidelines all ghosts and goblins must follow: Always walk on sidewalks, never go to a stranger's house, and never go out ALONE".
A small town in Ohio experiences some spooky times on Halloween night- Four of these events which eventually cross. A teacher stalks the night as a serial killer, a 22-year-old virgin decides to "give it up" when her friends take her to a party, a children's prank gone horribly wrong, and a man who gets a surprise visit for not acknowledging the holiday.
There are several movies out there that capture the Halloween spirit in a fun, darkly humored manner. We have the children's movie Hocus Pocus and the slasher franchise with the literal title Halloween. This film certainly belongs up there in those ranks. It's fun, it's spooky, and has a little bit of dark humor mixed into the witch's pot. The stories are great and manage to keep the appeal of the original comic/graphic novel in a similar sense to Creepshow. They feel much like they should be fables before bedtime on Halloween night and leave you wanting more when it ends. This movie could quite possibly be the perfect Halloween movie.
