Review of Unbreakable (2000) by Gracie B — 18 Jan 2019
When I first heard of this movie, I had high expectations. It was always on my list to watch, but I never got around to it. Last year I saw Split, and in preparation for its joint squeal with Unbreakable, I finally decided to watch Unbreakable.
Although I LOVE the concept of the movie, I was unfortunately let down by both the plot development and the acting. The theme of this movie is fantastic, however I found myself laughing at the "pivotal" scenes because of the poor acting and the lack of character development.
Don't get me wrong, the visuals in this film are beyond their time, but they don't make up for the random character realizations and the anti climactic energy of the movie. To be honest, I found myself continuously waiting for something exciting to happen, only to be let down again and again by underwhelming character interactions.
I really tried to love this movie, as I am a fan of Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, and M. Night Shyamalan, but it really fell short of expectations. This may just be because of previous expectations, however I must say I am significantly disappointed.
