Review of Undead (2003) by Mike H — 08 Jun 2007
Undead is a mess of a movie that is hampered by its convoluted plot, incredibly poor acting, and a bizarre lack of scares and gore. The movie begins with meteors falling from space and landing in a small Australian town; unfortunately, the meteors carry a plague with them that turn the citizens into zombies.
Immediately after the outbreak, a couple of the town's citizens band together and try to survive the thousands of zombies roaming around, while also trying to figure out what has caused the mysterious plague.
While the plot seems simple enough, it soon drowns in its own complexity, as the writers introduce aliens and spaceships into the mix -- the film keeps adding more elements to the plot and it becomes far too complicated and weird to understand.
The movie is also plagued by poor actors and uninteresting characters -- they're far too generic and boring to relate to and sympathize for. While the film isn't a complete disaster -- there are snippets of comedy and good zombie gore in the movie -- the film's poor elements prevent it from being recommendable, and there are too many better options for horror fans.
