Review of Up in the Air (2009) by Robert J — 12 Sep 2015
This was a deeper and more creative movie than I expected, in addition to great performances. I love the tie ins between Clooney's Frequent Flier goals, the junior execs relationship goals, and the "victim's" career goals -- the surprise, remorse and self-reflection that takes place when something we've dedicated our lives to doesn't turn out as planned or we are hit with a devastating and unexpected surprise in a major facet in life such as a career. There were many other things: running barefoot, dipping feet in water then boat runs out of gas, sitting isolated and caged in in a hotel room, etc. that added an undertone to the movie's themes.
In addition to this, I simply enjoyed watching the movie.
