Review of U.S. Marshals (1998) by Movie K — 17 Jan 2016
A sequel to 1993 The Fugitive. Not as good as the first one though. But average action flick on its own. Wesley Snipes is hurt in a car accident and the police found a gun. He is capture and on board a plane under Tommy Lee Jones US Marshals care.
A Chinese convict with an insider help, get a pen gun in the toilet roll stick. Wesley secretly free his handcuff using a spectacle frame. The Chinese gonna shoot at him and he push his hand. The plane turbulence and crash landed in river.
Wesley escape and Tommy and team is hunting him. The DSS send Robert Downey Jr to assist him as Wesley is wanted by them. When they manage to track him in the swamp, Robert goes alone to fight him. Wesley use him as hostage and shot Tommy.
He wonder why he didn't kill him. Tommy dig deeper and go through the UN building CCTV and found the statement wasn't accurate like what the top DSS brass said. They come clean to say he killed 2 of their agents and he is a black ops specialist who gone rogue.
Irène Jacob help her boyfriend Wesley. He rent a building and spy on the Chinese agent. They follow him to the cemetery and the Chinese agent fires at both sides. Wesley manage to escape again. The team track him in a building.
Robert is nearly going to kill him when the kid deputy marshal came in and killed by Robert. He lied to Tommy that Wesley shot him. Tommy decide to go on revenge mode and Robert tag along. They fight on board a vessel and Robert shot him.
At the hospital, Tommy remember the gun which belong to Robert. The serial number is filed. He ask for his gun and removed the magazine. After excusing himself to buy coffee, Robert enter the ward to try kill Wesley.
Tommy appear and he want to kill him but the gun is empty. Wesley warn Tommy of another gun and he shot him dead. Wesley is innocent and a free man.The whole thing is Wesley is been set up as the fall guy for Robert who is selling top secret info to the Chinese agent.
During a routine pick up, the set up was created to frame Wesley.
