This movie surpassed everything that I would have hoped for in a "true-ish" depictiction of the relationship between Queen Victoria and one of her Indian subjects. It was funny, engaging, and above all entertaining.
Plus it gives us one of the most surprising relationships in recent history - Dame Dench and Ali Fazal. A true TIFF standout.
