Review of Vince Giordano: There's a Future in the Past (2017) by Swing — 15 Jan 2017
Just saw this. If you love hot jazz, are a dancer, or just want to see what it takes to be a crazy Big band bandleader, check out this excellent documentary on Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks. See it Sunday at 7 or 9pm and Vince and the producers will there for a Q & A.
Also showing in NYC until Thurs, but no Q&A after Sunday. Such a well done movie showing the NYC Icon who's music has provided legitimacy to Scorese's Aviator, Woody Allen's movies, Boardwalk Empire, Mildred Pierce and many more.
It's an amazing story. Love the parts at the Newport Jazz Festival, the Louie Armstrong house, his appearance on Pairie Home Companion, as well as the first NEW York Hot Jazz Festival.
