Review of Westworld (1973) by Alex S — 01 Sep 2010
Michael Crichton's recurrent theme of technology gone wrong forms the basis of this chilling and gripping vision of the near future, with the surprisingly successful hybrid of Science Fiction and the Wild West.
Westworld has to be one of the greatest science fiction movies of all time, with only the sideburns and flares dating it today. Yul Brynner's thrilling performance as the robot gunslinger still sends a shiver down the spine, combined with the grating, haunting soundtrack. Here we have the ultimate nightmare chase movie and the robotic villain who refuses to die, a good decade before The Terminator.
An absolute classic movie of which I'll never tire.
