Review of What Doesn't Kill You (2008) by Kyle S — 18 Jun 2011
A very interesting and in depth look at the struggles of two brothers living a life of crime, each wiith their own set of problems. Very realistic and touches you in a strange way. A very good film and considering the many movies that have been made latley with the 'Gritty Boston Crime' theme, What Doesn't Kill You is by far one of the best (although not as good as Ben Afflacks recent gangster film) and I found myself very drawn into it's in depth plot and great performances.
Surprisingly it's Mark Ruffalo that outshines Ethan Hawke despite Hawkes many performances in this exact type role. Both actors are great however. Overall a great entry into a genre that had far too many cliches and flat out bad films, I can promise you this is not one of them.
