We can go anywhere.

Gilbert Grape has two sisters and a younger brother that has special needs. His father committed suicide some years ago leaving Gilbert in charge of the household. His mother has gained substantial weight and become obese. Gilbert finds his life depressing; however, when a new girl arrives in town, the Grape family is in for a change.

"Some times you want him to live. Some times you don't.".

Lasse Hallstrom, director of Casanova, Dear John, The Cider House Rules, Chocolat, The Hoax, and Once Around, delivers What's Eating Gilbert Grape. The storyline for this picture was wonderfully intricate and well presented. The characters were depicted and delivered to perfection and the cast delivered remarkable performances. The cast includes Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio, Juliette Lewis, John C. Reilly, and Crispin Glover.

"Dad's dead!".

What's Eating Gilbert Grape is a film I have been trying to see for some time. I have seen this in pieces parts for years; however, today is the first time I sat down and watched the entire thing. This is a remarkable film and Depp and Dicaprio deliver unbelievable performances. This movie is a great opportunity to see two of the top three leading men (Hanks, DiCaprio, and Depp) from our generation in top form. This movie is worth having in your DVD collection.

"Give me my son!".

Grade: A+.
