Review of What's Up, Tiger Lily? (1966) by Tom S — 17 May 2004
This is a private (not so private anymore) message I sent to The Urban Dreamer in reply to a depressing PM telling me he hadn't seen Kill Bill Vol2 yet, but he'll soon be 17 so there is hope. I figured that since I hadn't officially expressed my Kill Bill Vol2 opinion yet, this would be a neat way to do it. Here we go:
I would be surprised if its still around in June, with so many big movies coming out. I just saw Vol2 for the third time and it was the only showing of the day at the biggest theater in town. I feel so bad for you!!! You must be itching to see it. Yes, it is less gorey, and yes, the storyline makes for what I consider an ideal film. It proves how much expectations factor into things, because when I first went to see Vol2 with my mother, I was rather disappointed... simply because I unknowingly expected another Vol1. When I saw it a second time, however, and knew what to expect, I LOVVVED it!!! It really is great, and I pray for you that you get to see it soon. I haven't seen Amelie, but I would bet at least $3 (lol... I'm broke) that KB2 has ouster capacity.
Vol1 has been losing ground in my top ten as well, for the same reasons as 2001:ASO - I've seen it so many darn times! I've seen 2001 at least 10 times (a lot for that movie lol) and I've seen KB1 about 20 - and that's a WHOLE lot considering how short a time its been out on DVD (I saw it 4 times in theaters). Were you allowed to buy KB1?
And an early happy birthday to you! Remind me in June, ok? hehe.
-Tom.
(PS - now I understand why you don't know Paula Schultz - it will all come in due time, my friend, all in due time.).
So, on another note... I'm not feeling well tonight. I met George Clinton (well sorta - he looked at me and smiled, and I smiled back), which was super-cool, but then an acquaintance of mine told me flat out in front of many people that I have a clear disrespect for women. WHAAA? I am one of the nicest guys I know (not to be cocky or anything, its the truth) and I end up with the rap of the woman-disrespecter or whatever. So the plot has yet to thicken, but just when I thought the drama was gone and I could focus on school 100%, here it returns.
