Review of Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988) by David L — 02 Apr 2013
Who Framed Roger Rabbit is one of the most magical and enjoyable films ever made. Who would've thought that a combination of animated and live action film noir would have made such a remarkably wonderful film? I also respect this film immensely for the amount of work that went into making it, which was quite a lot.
It deserved all of the Oscars that it received, and perhaps even more. Everybody in the film gives fantastic performances, in particular Bob Hoskins who, amongst other traits, does one of the best American accents I've ever heard from a British actor.
These are also the days of Robert Zemeckis the storyteller, and not Robert Zemeckis the innovator. This is the persona of filmmaker that I prefer and I'd love to see him make a return someday. Regardless, he left a couple of really well-made films in his wake, and Who Framed Roger Rabbit is near the top of that list.
I just can't get enough of it and I watch it often.
