Review of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966) by Michael C — 18 Jan 2009
There were many people that thought it was absurd when Mike Nichol's announced he was making a horror movie in the early 90's (the film I am referring to is "Wolf"), but is it really that surprising? In fact, his first foray into filmmaking was a horror film, sure not a conventional one, but their is no doubt that "Who's Afraid of a Virginia Woolf" maintains a nightmarish quality.
The story of a young couple who come over for a lovely evening gathering with a married couple (Taylor and Burton) that is violently self-destructing is really a haunting film, and absolutely deserves recognition as one of the important and notable American films.
