Review of Wicked Little Things (2006) by Katie D — 23 Sep 2011
The problem with this movie was that there was no build-up or suspense to get us worked up over the storyline. We know from the beginning of the film what the 'zombies' are, we know that they were innocent children that died a horrible death, and we know that there is nothing inherently evil about them.
There's no mystery to the monster we are facing, and because of that, they aren't scary. The majority of what makes the supernatural terrifying is the unknown factor; we are afraid of what we don't know or understand.
We know and understand these monsters from the very beginning, thus there is no fear. Aside from that, the characters were flat and two-dementional, even for a horror film, and the plot was just dull.
At the start of the movie, we are almost lead to believe that the house has something to do with 'zombies', and there actually is some build-up there to make us believe so. However, this build-up was never realized, and after a while, I think the audience just forgot what they were supposed to be scared of.
