Based on a TV series, this is a longish 2+ hour movie that really would be much better as a .... TV series. Say, three 1-hour episodes. As it is, it's enjoyable but somehow too slow in the first half, and a bit thin in its exploration of its themes.
It actually needs to be a bit longer for it all to really work.
