Bernhard's performance here is pretty unique - a weird mix of storytelling/character performance/beat poetry that I haven't really seen before (although I do get the sense that both Buddy Cole and Hedwig borrowed some from her).
But too often the sequences fall flat - it's either unclear what she's satirizing exactly (maybe I'm not of the right generation) or it's hitting too many of the same notes she's already hit.
And even if the more pretentious elements are just a put-on, that doesn't make them cohere any better.
