Review of Wu Dang (2012) by Paris T — 16 Aug 2013
Wu Dang is simple enough as an entertaining martial arts period piece, but I feel like it did not fulfill its potential. It starts off as an Indiana Jones with kung fu type movie, which is really cool.
However, about halfway through the movie is bogged down by way too many subplots including a love interest for the protagonist, a love interest for his daughter, magical artifacts, two villains, and it loses focus.
The martial arts sequences and camera work are solid, but the CGI is pretty bad and noticeable. If the second half of the film were a bit more tightened, it would have made for a much better movie.
