Review of You Don't Mess with the Zohan (2008) by Christopher L — 20 Oct 2015
For You Don't Mess with the Zohan, I honestly wanted to see it because Judd Apatow is one of the co-writers, and the premise does seem to be different from any of the films that Adam Sandler had done.
So with that said, You Don't Mess with the Zohan is a good movie that I was a bit disappointed that it could've been better. The over-the-top jokes are pretty funny which I like to see more of that in more Adam Sandler films instead of his usual mean-spirited shtick.
The plot is ridiculous, but it fits well to the movie, even though there are some plot points that are basically an excuse to make the movie go longer. The chemistry between Adam Sandler and Emmanuelle Chriqui is decent, and it has an interesting and a bit funny way of showing that the main character has fallen in love.
The movie does play the same jokes at times which still gave me chuckles, but it got a bit tiring. It's a little too long for its own good, and some jokes are a misfire, especially Rob Schneider's scenes.
I honestly expected to not like You Don't Mess with the Zohan, but I'm glad that I didn't and liked it for what it is.
