Review of You Were Never Really Here (2017) by Holly W — 21 Jul 2018
If you want to see a super boring get confusing film with a sttellar actor this is your film. The director thinks of themselves as very artistic. But they really are just abusing the audience in the name of "art" The film way over played the music.
I've never felt so abused by music, the main character is literally buying duct tape and taking us along for ride (thanks that is just what I want to see when I pay the obsorbant price for a movie ticket today) and the music tells you the shower scene from psycho is happening.
I love Joquain Phoenix but even he can't rescue this film. Go buy some popcorn, go to the bathroom - you won't have missed anything this was borderline painful to sit thru. At least I could hit fast forward, feel bad for you theater goers.
