Review of You're Not You (2014) by Nathan M — 23 Mar 2015
While it hits every high point a weepy, tear-jerker needs to hit, You're Not You feels false most of the time. Save for a strong performance from Hilary Swank, and a few good moments from Duhamel and Rossum, You're Not You feels like a text book version of what a big "hero with a disability" drama should be.
It never connects on an emotional level, because everything in the movie feels like something repeated from other films. Nothing feels real, and that weighs down the film in a sugary coating that doesn't work.
